Meet the ladies behind

Baggu

Manufactured: Brooklyn, New York

Materials Sourced: Leather products are made in the USA in an ISO 14001 certified factory, and the Nylon and Canvas products are ethically made in China. Factories in China are audited yearly by an independent third party for occupational health and safety.

Mission: To make high quality, long lasting goods, so you can own less stuff.

In 2007, Emily Sugihara (a Parsons fashion) grad and her mother Joan (a master seamstress), set out to share the minimalist bags they were creating for themselves with bag enthusiasts everywhere.

Baggu products are designed to be as eco friendly as possible and are constructed to minimize material waste and ensure high quality.

All nylon bags are assembled from one continuous piece of material, with the cut out portion used to construct its carrying pouch. The dyes selected are fully absorbed by the material to minimize run off. Cotton is made from pre-consumer, recycled cotton; cotton scraps recovered during the creation of other cotton products like t-shirts and socks that would otherwise have gone to a landfill. Natural milled leather used is produced domestically in an ISO-14001 Certified Tannery which is an International Standard established to distinguish tanneries that document and manage their operations to minimize the impact on the environment.

WHY WE LOVE THEM:

Despite gaining a huge success and being featured in well known publications such as Fast Company, LA times and GOOP, Baggu has maintained its philosophy of created high quality, long lasting goods with intention and care. We love all of the fun colours offered, and never make a trip to the grocery store or famers market without our mesh bag in tow.
