DIY facial mask for clearer skin
As you know, we are firm believers in taking a natural approach to skincare. We also believe that some of the best ingredients for your skin can be found hidden in your pantry. With the right combinations and a bit of DIY knowledge you can easily treat skin ailments using raw ingredients straight from the kitchen.
Here is one of our favourite at home remedies.
This mask recipe acts as both a moisturizer and exfoliate to help reduce inflammation and redness and provide clearer, brighter skin.
The two star ingredients in this facial mark are manuka honey and turmeric powder.
Brimming with skin care properties Manuka Honey is an anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory that has been shown to stimulate college production.
Turmeric, or "haldi," is a deep orange root from India, where it's one of the country's most widely used spices in food and skincare. Similar to Manuka honey, Turmeric is an antioxidant as well as anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory. Studies have shown that turmeric helps protect against the aging effects of sun-damage UV radiation and the formation of wrinkles and dark spots. Turmeric will also work to reduce flare-ups caused from sensitive skin conditions such as rosacea or eczema.
Honey and Turmeric Face Mark
1 teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoon honey (we like to use manuka honey)
1 teaspoon goats milk yogurt
1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional - the lemon juice will help to tighten and clarify oily skin)
Combine all ingredients and mix to form a paste (feel free to adjust the amount of yogurt as needed).
Apply evenly all over your face. Be sure to cover your eye area as turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties and will help to reduce dark circles.
Leave on for 20 minutes or until dry and rinse off with cool water.
Pat face gently with a towel to dry.
If you are experiencing dry skin (normal for this time of year) you can also add a few drops of a natural facial oil to provide extra hydration.
Try it out and let us know what you think! We have a feeling you won’t be disappointed!
